What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture is a way for people to buy local food directly from farmers in their community. Members pay in advance for a “share” of the harvest and receive a weekly assortment of veggies. This model allows the farmer and members to share the risks and bounty of each growing season.
It’s fun! CSA’s connect you to other people in your community–including your farmers–through food. What better way? Your share will contain a diverse assortment of produce that is ripe for harvest that week, and there are also some crops available for u-pick such as cherry tomatoes, string beans and flowers. CSA members are also invited to events held on the farm, such as potlucks and our annual garlic planting party. Here is a list of varieties we plan to grow in 2017!
Shares run for 22 weeks from June to November. We offer CSA shares on a sliding scale basis. Full shares are $575 to $675, with an average share price of $625. Half shares are $350 to $450, with an average share price of $400. Those who are able to pay at the higher end of the scale allow us to offer shares to those with more limited resources. What you pay is up to you.
We want this to work for our community! If the price is a barrier, please contact us. We offer payment plans and also have scholarship shares available.
If you want to support a more robust and equitable local food community in Pine Plains, you can donate towards our CSA scholarship fund! Contact us for more details.
CSA pick-ups are held weekly on the farm. Choose to pick up your share on Saturday mornings from 8 to 11 AM or Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 PM.
